4. Custom (Biker Vest) Chainmaille Project

Custom Biker Vest modification project I completed recently for a customer. He wanted a tiny chainmaille woven chain made in his club colours (blue and grey) to replace the leather rope running through the eyelets in his vest. It was a challenging, but very fun project that took nearly 20 hours to complete. He was very happy with it in the end, so I am glad my first big custom project was a success! :)
Sideview of the completed vest. I made 6 X's, 3 on each side done in Full Persian weave.
For each 'X', I made a 1.75" long Full Persian chain using 20 gage 5/32" rings (in other words TEENY tiny rings - I needed my glasses for this project for sure). I then installed each weave onto the vest using a straight 3-in-3 chain-link reinforcement on the back. I had to work around the leather for this, because though the rings were tiny, a full weave could not quite fit through the eyelets. But the problem got solved in the end. :)
I made two little Box Weave keychains featuring little .925 silver skulls in his club colours to tie the vest together as a little bonus for my awesome customer. He loved those too! :)
Another side-view of the finished vest.
My happy customer wearing his newly blinged-out Club Vest! :) I hope to do more custom projects like this in the future. So if you have any ideas of custom chainmaille work you would like done, please don't hesitate to email me at shopmetaleye@gmail.com to see if I can make what you have in mind!
